A well designed set of overload springs won't change the ride or the height of your truck when empty. We have a shop in town that has their own design. They are very easy to install. If you want to raise the unloaded bed height install blocks and/or additional main springs.

Forget the bolt on airbags. They still give you a lousy, bouncy ride when towing. Since you ponied up for the trailer, throw in $2500 more and add an Ultra Ride suspension from Link Mfg. I changed my `04 F350 4x4 SD over to the Ultra Ride, and now get a truly nice ride whether towing or not. It is a true heavy duty air ride rear suspension with auto leveling and a manual dump valve. It is very similar to that used on semi tractors. Check them out at www.linkmfg.com, they list the distributors and have online brochures.

Firestone bags with the onboard compressor/gauge. Just a switch to inflate or deflate and the gauge makes it so convenient.

They did a "custom" install on my D-Max. Just need to change the gauge for a black face to match the dash.
Ran around $500 total.

My vote is for Timbrens as mine have worked well so far. Easy to install and no messing with pumps, bags, worrying about bags when jacking up vehicle, etc. etc. ... but I do believe the airbags would give you a slightly better ride ... not worth the $$$ and worries to me.

My CAT scale weigh in's also seem to pretty much throw the whole theory of loading up the TH will reduce weight atleast for a WW 31LE. As others mentioned, you have to consider how many axles you have (more axles on TH significantly less shifting of weight) and how much TH actually sits behind the last axle... when loading up you are probably also loading up with water (how much could say adding 1,000 slightly behind rear TH axles possible budge up 1,000lbs of water probably sitting directly between TV and TH axles at a lower center of gravity and distibuted over a large area). I think this whole theory was started by the infamous TH sales guys and that people are slowly beleiving it as i cant tell you how many times I was told how significant a change it would make. If you want to invent a 5,000 pound motorcycle and tie it down at the very edge of the rear of the TH horizontally than maybe it would make an ounce of difference the way most TH are setup.

I vote for the timbrens, just because there cheap dont mean they dont work. I love mine and they will correct your problems. Some people can over complicate things and over spend without realizing they dont need to.Besides they are only $150-$175 delivered to your door what do you have to lose.JMHO

True, But a 2000 F350 doesn't have the same GVWR as a 2005.

It amazes me, spend big money on a trailer, and all you hear is that you should keep spending more! Am I just cheap?!?

Yes...

If you go with the Ride Rites I suggest you get the dual controls. They allow you to adjust the bag pressure individually. Have them on both our rigs.

You might want to have your springs inspected also, just to be sure none are broken.
