Am thinking about a F250 with V10 and 3.73 diff. for towing a 27' Wildcat by Forest River. What kind of mileage can I expect towing and non towing on the highway. Any comments would be appreciated.

Mcclain: Just now have 2500 miles on my F250 SD CC with V10 3.73 and auto. Pulled my 7300 lb 25ft JAYCO on a round trip thru Okla and Kansas over the Memorial Day Holiday about 700 miles round trip and averaged about 9.5 mpg every where.
In the hills, against the wind, etc. etc. Kansas and Oklahoma average year around about 15mph winds all the time. Probably would have done better if the wind wasn't blowing all the time. Kept the speedometer glued to 60MPH. Warning to anybody who comes to Kansas they are tripling the fines for all motor violations in Kansas. I always knew traffic citations where about revenue and not safety. The legislature published the fact that it was to make up shortfall in the budgets. The finally become less hypocritical and admitted it.
Take your vacation somewhere else and avoid Kansas.

Cheers.

I have the Ford SD CC SB V10 with the 4.30 rear end. I am pulling a Sunnybrook 27fks around 7500 loaded. I am doing about 9 MPG. Be sure to install an additional tranny cooler and a gauge. It makes all the difference.

Mike,

I average about 8-9.5 MPG towing my 27' Skyline Nomad at 60-65 MPH in flat terrain and moderate winds... The TT weighs in at #6400 fully loaded with my truck at #7400 loaded (#7650 if carrying 30 gallons of additional water in the bed)...

My truck running solo and lightly loaded (see signature) will average around 13 MPG, and as high as 15 MPG if I am out of the Chicago area and not using the reforulated gas we have here...

Best Regards,
Les
