I've found that that works the best for everything in general, but duct tape takes longer when dried out by the sun.

Among other nifty ingredients, Goo-Gone contains Xylene & Naphtha that will dissolve certain plastics and decals. It's neat stuff, but use with caution.

Baby Wipes. Yes I'm serious. Even cleans ink from fabric upholstery. I used it to clean a can of root beer that exploded all over the headliner of my car one winter. So far I haven't come across anything they won't clean.

I have used gasoline on canoes, don't know what it would do to the RV finish.

Oops, Goo Gone, WD40 first. I'd avoid the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser for the time being.

6 months in the sun and duct tape is junk.

For old sun exposed duct tape: Pull the old off, use soapy water and a sponge. Rub small sections at a time. The sticky residue will come right off. If it gives you grief, saturate the tape residue with dawn dishwashing detergent for an hour and try again. If it's really nasty, (hasn't been exposed to UV long enough) wait a week and use the sponge/water again.
