Hawthorne, do you have any photos of your setup? Wouldn't mind seeing how the 265's look. They are quite a bit more expensive (almost $75 more at my shop). I have to order them so I can't ask the shop to demo them for me...
thanks!!

Sorry this is off topic from the OP, but may be useful to some.
I went into Costco and got a quote for the 265 XDE2's and basically told them is was for an rv, but I am unable to bring the RV in and can they mount and balance. Answer was... YES!
$1692 for all four out the door, minus the $80 rebate they are giving right now.
The XDS's they only have in 245, and they are a bit cheaper - $1427.90 out the door minus the rebate.
As much as I'd like to use our fleet shop to get the tires, you can't beat having a Costco pretty much wherever you go to help you out in case of any problems...
Hawthorne, have you run into any issues having a drive axle tire on your steering axle? Seems like a lot of people run the drive position tires on all 4...
Thanks for the photos!

I posted those pics quickly at work without looking at dates or the images very carefully. The top one shows 265's with less than 10K miles. The bottom Disney pic is the last long trip on the old 245's, with something like 60K miles.
We do a lot of snow, so I wanted the traction tread (drive axle) on all four. Unless you can match the diameter exactly, I’d stick with four of the same on a 4x4.
Try to get some miles on before you haul heavy. With both sets I experienced the 'squirm' most folks report, and it went away after some miles. The steering ratio also changes with the stiffer sidewall; some of the 'squirm' we all experience may just be over-correcting bump-steer or over-steer. My personal opinion - it's the tread block height, which is much greater than your average passenger or light truck tire. When new, the blocks are so tall, the whole tread pattern shifts left or right under side load, which pushes both the steering wheel and track, thus causing a swerve (perceived) that doesn't always require correction. Bt the time the tread wares a little, we've adapted to the tighter steering.
Just for your comparison, I paid about $1200 for the 265's at Industrial Tire in PDX. They're more of a truck shop; you might try another source. I paid more for the 245's at Schwabs. Then again, I have to rotate them my-self, and they're heavy suckers.
Good luck.

Just an update, Costco could not order the XDE's even though they show them on their website. Once they made the call they could not get them - discontinued apparently.
Back to the drawing board!

Sorry, I missed your question.
I forget the tire I was going from. I think it was a 265x16. They were 8 inch wide wheels. I had problems with the sidewall cracking. Two different manufactures, three sets of tires.
As for the road noise on the XDS, I think they are pretty loud. My wife does not think they are loud. I have gotten use to the noise.
I experienced no adverse on the steering or road handling. I calibrated my speedometer.

It appears that many people have this experience. I did not, and I had my TC on when they were mounted.

Got my 19.5's on yesterday! Hankook DH01's 265/70/19.5 . $1200 out the door.
Initial reaction, definately a different feel, but not bad. Rougher ride, a little bumpier, as expected, but not terrible. Not "squirmy" per say, but when I hit a line in the road, it wants to follow it for sure!
Actually quieter than my Yokohama A/T's, but they do sing a little at higher speeds.
Speedometer off about 3mph as expected.
Braking and acceleration is slightly different, need more pedal pressure on the braking and acceleration is a tiny but slower, as expected.
Cannot use either the factory nor the vision centers as is, but looking into some modification of them to see if I can make them work. Seem like they will ALMOST fit the back. I think the fronts will fit after cutting the center piece out.
Anyhow, all in all about $2k, can't wait to see how they do under load.
Thanks for everyone's advice!

You will like them with the load on. They will smooth out and will take the road bumps easier.

I was wondering why you ended up going with the Hankook's instead of the XDS2? Was it because you couldn't get them in 265'?
Have you had the Hankook's in any snow or mud yet?
