Apparently, the XDS's were no longer being supplied to all the retailers I was pricing tires at...
The DH01's i've had in moderately soft mud, and they handled just fine. Also did well in the rain. No snow yet...

In addition to putting the tires on the rims, and putting the rims on the truck, you should feel free to send me a case of beer.
No other modifications are required.

I'm looking at the Hankook's for about $1631, mounted, balanced and siped at the local truck tire dealer. They tell me that's what the government trucks up in Silverthorne (Summit County) use FWIW.
The XDS2 will be either $2010 or $2136 depending on whether or not the local COSTCO can mount/balance them, or if I have to take them to the local truck tire dealer (same as Option 1) for mounting balancing. I have not found a place locally to look at them first....I'd need to order.
The Michellins look like a very good pure snow tire, and probably do better on snow/ice. I am guessing they will get better mileage but that may just be predjudice on my part having had such great tread wear on a set of LTX's on our 4Runnner.
The Hankook's look a little more like a better mud tire (and maybe deep snow?) due to a little bigger lugs and are cheaper.
When you are spending this much money on 6 tires....it really make me hesitate. With a set of 4 - 16 inch tires I don't think as much about it and buy the better ones (and have one all-season set for summer, and one studded set for winter for that matter.)
Anybody have any more comments relative to these two tires? Anyone have a set of XD2S's in Denver I could look at?

I just mounted the GY 622 and 647 G rated on my dually...19.5 MKW rims all 6 alloy. The tires are a little squirmy still but I have less than 1500 on them...did a road trip of about 500 withthe 1161 and had them at 70# stopped about 125 miles out and had them pumped to 90# all around...BIG difference. The lugs sing a little on the rears but compliment the turbo from time to time when you have the window down...I really like the set up so far...this coming week I'll be off for another 6 or 7 days around the Oly Penn in WA, hope to encounter some different weather conditions. The last rain we had I was running light and the rooster tail even with flaps was above the bed rails in the mirror...nobody tailgated!!! Had the fronts siped as they are a hiway tread and just felt it would be better...the backs are lugs of nice size and present good traction...got to get my chains before the trip as the old CTD is just a 2 by!
All six tires are spendy but the longevity will pay off...the wheels are great! OH the size is 245/70R 19.5 big footprint! With the Smarty JR on step 3 and light it gets a bit loose in the rain if I get in to fast...need to be gentle on the throttle running lite in the rain...but when loaded mash it and you are gone...don't do that very often...but had to getting on I90 as a big fella was looming up in the mirror...he moved over to go around and came close but I pulled away...he didn't get with in 50 of my rear bumper...so I know if I gotta I can get out of the way!
I like the big tires...the ride and handling is super. Capt PJ

btggraphix, just know that Costco will not mount and balance them on your truck UNLESS they are factory recommended. The only way they would do it for me is if I brought in the rims, told them they were from an RV and carried them out and installed them myself...

My truck has (6) 19.5" wheels/tires stock so that is not an issue. The only thing they are telling me is that I have to bring in my shop manual for the 4500 to show them the torque specs. If it is over 250ftlbs they won't do it. They do not have a book for the 4500. If that is the case, I'm not sure what will happen, but perhaps I'll have to bring 6 wheels down to them....I am not sure I have enough strong jackstands to support the 18,000 truck/camper....I'd at least have to take the camper off.
