ODW- Outdoor World, TTN- Thousand Trails / NACO (the OP is possibly a member of Leisuretime also) lots of variances from a base Thousand Trails (TT -only) membership and PPA- Passport America.
The use of abbreviations can be annoying, but so can typing all those names and affiliations.

Outdoor World is only in the east coastal area.
I bought both of them on e-bay and for what I have spent, I have saved more. I do some dry camping as well, but we do like the water, sewer and electric. Usually we don't pay any electric as that is figured into the campgrounds fee.

A friend told me that with PPA, you only pay 50% at membership places. I'm trying to tell him that the 50% discount does not apply to someone who plans to stay in the same RV Resort for 3-12 months but for the traveler. Just got started in a 5ver and will be staying in one location for a year in order to get my books in order and see what the gas prices do. After the first year, then I will decide on going full time traveling or not. For me right now, $3500 a year plus $0.11 cent a Kwh is a lot cheaper than $12,000+ a year for rent then elect, utilities and the rest associated with the S&B. As far as joining any of the discount clubs, I do not feel I can justify the expense.

I've looked at several of those membership and discount things and I have to agree with you. Many of them have restrictions, the 50% only applies to the daily rate, etc. With the bulk of out stays being a week or more and much of our one nighters being during the summer (in season for many of the restrictions) I just haven't found one worth the price.

Memberships might be the way to go, it really depends on where you live, and what you want to do with it. Most have limitations, like ability to stay in one place for 2 weeks at a time, leave for say 7 days then come back for 2 weeks. If you are ok with that, then you can stay pretty darn cheap or free in some instances. Also, in terms of long term stays, if you shop around, I bet you can find cheaper deals, MH park near us charges $300 a month for full hookups. Or maybe you can find some part time work to supplement. For example, a guy in a park we stayed at in SD sold custom RV shades, he makes fairly decent $$ doing it.
