You know, I for one am sick of every discussion about a slider that the longbed fan club has to show up to tell everyone that they should have bought one. After the slider post, somebody had to do this and I guess it might as well be me, another longbed owner!

Gotta love the people with the slider hitches.

1. Shoulda bought a long bed
2. It costs the same as the "upgrade" to a slider
3. The RBW is flakin' paint, but it still works great
4. See item #1

Just messin' with every one!!!!!!!!!!!1
To each their own, I chose a long bed truck, you may not. I chose a "cheap" hitch, you may not. I'm gonna stop ranting now, you may not.

Yes, we all know what it does. Yes, we all know you love it. Just add it to your sig and quit threadcrapping at every opportunity.

I can tell you that I will get out and pull a lever and learn to pay attention when turning for many, many years before paying thousands to not have to. I suspect I am not the only one based on the number of people who use sliders. It's a personal choice.

There is nothing wrong with choosing to use a slider and I don't think that telling everyone that has a question about them to spend thousands to replace their perfectly functional hitch is a reasonable answer to their questions unless they are asking about replacing their hitch. It's like telling every SuperGlide owner to replace their truck with a long bed every time they have a question about their hitch, it's just obnoxious.

As for the OPs situation, I think that taking a little bit more care when you first slide it to make sure it's locked in will avoid that situation. You should be able to just glance over your shoulder and know if it's slid and locked it by the position of the lever.

WoW! I never would have boasted about the Pullrite Superglide...until now.

To the OP live and learn. Worse things can happen and after all you still had a goodtime didn't you?

I too am sick of reading the "S" word. It costs a lot more than manual slider. It weighs a lot more also (reducing payload) And it doesn't start sliding until you start turning and at that it doesn't go back all the way. It slides on a ratio of pivot vs slide. I think Heh if I'm wrong correct me. Using a manual slider makes it easier to back into tight spaces. Slide the hitch (make sure it's locked) Now your truck trailer combo acts more like a TT combo. The trailer "comes around" faster.

I could be wrong, your mileage may vary

MoparDan...I have done it too. Be sure to keep a close eye on your bed rails!!! That happened to me a couple of years ago. Last May when I was taking out my rails to have a bedliner sprayed in I noticed that my front rail (the one that took the most of the shock that day when the hitch slammed back) was CRACKED, one side all the way through the metal, in both places where the hitch tabs sit down in the rails (where the pins hold the hitch in). I think it was a disaster waiting to happen so please keep a very close eye on your rails.

If you think about it that is a lot of stress/shock on the metal when it slams back like that. I don't mean to cause you worry but please keep an eye on it (in the years to come).
