We looked at all the brands you listed. We liked the heartland Bighorn but went with the Montana because of the floor plan. After one 1200 mile trip we are happy with our choice & I have owned 8 rvs. I have heard that carrige is the only one that makes their own frame. Hope that whatever you get was made on a good day at the factory!

We heard about Teton .... I actually asked a Carriage manufacturer rep at the show if the company was in good financial condition. Of course, he told me yes......
We have an Alpenlite, was in yakima Wash. Last time I went to the Website it was closed, said contact your dealer. Does anyone know if they went under also?

We like you are in the process of selling our house so we can become fulltimers. We have purchased a Cedar Creek, 38ft. There will be myself and hubby and big dog. We've been out 4 times since acquiring the rig. loads of space ie storage, and what not. Hubby has modified some things, put a shelf here and there, increased the depth of the medicine cabinet. We also will be taking a 4 ft free standing island, as there is not enough counter space for 2 cooks, it fits nicely in the living room when slides are closed. We have window shopped for 3 years in anticipation of this lifestyle. In the end it all boils down to comfort and most important the Dealer. You will know as we did as soon as you walk in you will know you are home. Good luck!!

Sound advice there. Having two kids under the age of three, we really looked a kid friendly floor plans and finally decided on our Cougar. We looked at some Montanas as well, but the floorplans weren't what we were looking for.
If you are looking to sleep more than four look elsewhere all the Montanas sleep four, unless you want to sleep on the floor. My 2005 Montana 2980RL had the jacknive sofa and two adults was a tight fit ( but then maybe thats okay )

We have a Alpenlite 29 foot fiver and we have friends who full timed in a Excel and they said it was the best! Based on their first hand expierence I would suggest looking at one of them. I do agree with the above poster who said find the floor plan that suits you best. Good advice.

Carriage also make their own frames. We are full timing in ours now and have experienced some cool nights and coach is warm. Carriage is very well built and all wood inside. Great insulation. We do tow ours with a class 6 truck. A 5500 which is a 2 ton Dodge. This is our 4th fifth wheel purchase and we like this one best.
