Looking for a quality replacement mattress for an old (70s) body. Preferably not heavy foam type. Any recommendations?

How easily can you navigate a normal type mattress to your bed? If easily, I'd recommend a sleep number bed.
If it wouldn't be fairly easy to navigate an inner spring mattress into place, you're kinda stuck looking at foam and memory foam beds.
I feel very sorry for you for living in "Point Rip-Off Station." I was in the area when I visited California last year, stayed down the road in Olema at the Olema RV park. Never seen a town with higher prices all along the California coast....

Have you tried Excel Distributors on the Internet? http://www.exceldistributors.com ... they sell innerspring RV mattresses in a variety of sizes. I purchased a queen pillow top mattress from them for my travel trailer a couple of years ago and am very happy with it. They are shipped in a vaccum pack type seal (flat and rolled up) so are easy to get into the camper. Once on the bed you unroll the mattress, open the package and over the next couple of hours the mattress "expands" to its full thickness.

I'd suggest trying out a Sleep Number bed at a hotel or something before buying one. We were sure we'd like it, tried it at a hotel, and hated it.
However, we walked into Denver Mattress and walked out with a regular Queen pillow top inner spring mattress (One with enough flexibility to be folded a bit to fit up into the front area on a 117DBL). Best two weeks of sleep my DW has had in two ears in the TC.
The cheaper firm mattresses probably won't bend enough to push into a small opening, but the mid-line ones will, and Denver has a 30 day money back guarantee.
Biggest issue with normal mattresses will be the additional height. We lost 4 inches of headroom with the new mattress, but it was worth it.
Not sure I'd buy a $2000.00 mattress for the TC, but we did look at them.

Ok, so the title of your post refers to a good night's sleep. Often it's not all due to the mattress. Mattresses are generally a rip-off. If you have the time, take a look at any basic firm mattress (cheaper) that will conveniently fit the space, then spend the extra money on an old technology... a feather mattress cover ($75-100). "Memory foam" mattresses are also a gimmick IMHO.

Thanks I'll check out those sites. And Joe, yes I always thought Pt R was expensive until I moved to Co. Housing is indeed cheap compared; but not the food or medical care!
