Read... the bank won't call the OP back on a $150,000 offer, which is by the way less then wholesale on a used one. You people will cause the OP to lose a great deal on a NEW rig. Very bad advise...

This has worked for me many times: Decide on the price you think is fair and that you are willing to pay, in this case maybe $130K. Make a check out to the dealer for that amount and type up a letter saying, "This offer is good for 12 hrs (or 24 or end of today, etc)". Then turn and WALK OUT! I think you will find this will get someone off their duff and start doing business. Hint: Have your top dollar firmly in mind when you do this. They may take your offer or make counter offer. No matter what the counter offer then you counter the counter with $135,000.

I think you will get some action this way. Offers walk, money talks!

Nice advice on dealing with "dealer", but remember the "seller" in THE BANK, and they could care less for these games.

Also read the OP's post that they already rejected his offer of 150K out the door.

BOA came back at 7PM last night with an as-is counter offer of $245,000. I would have to pay tax and warranty on top of that. This deal is done I e-mailed the dealer a notice of bid withdrawal shortly after he called. That number sounds like 100% of the original invoice PLUS all of the accrued interest from the previous dealers floorplan on the unit for at least a year. The dealer told us he is telling them that it needs to be moved elsewhere. He wanted me to counter at $185K, but we decided we didn't want it that much. Quite frankly, we have lost interest. We're going camping this weekend.

Great move! You did exactly the right thing-they made an unrealistic offer and you didn't think the value was there (and I think most of us would agree) so you turned it down.

In my experience dealing with banks is one big unrealistic game. They think they are in the driver's seat but they aren't-they can't force you to buy.

So they originally said make an offer? They should do business like business people and customers are used to doing: PUT a price on it and see if a counter offer is made.

Another good example of financial institution incompetence in "dealing" is the current housing mess. I know several people who have made offers on properties under the invitation of "this is a short sale, the bank will take less than it is owed". People make bids but the banks take so long to respond that the prospective buyer loses interest and goes elsewhere. And the bank continues to sit on the property losing interest and paying carrying costs and the depositors lose out.

That coach will sit and rot before anyone pays that for it. That's not even a good deal on a coach new off the line that hasn't been sitting for a year or two. I'll never understand dealers and banks about holding onto RV's and letting them age and depreciate, instead of cutting their losses and getting at least something for them and unloading old inventory. Plus it would get people out traveling and spending money helping the economy.

It sounds like the person calling the shots at BofA may have gotten ruffled feathers about what he/she considered too much of a lowball bid by LT, and came back with a response to purposely kill the deal.
LT sure did the right thing to walk away. Even if a deal could eventually be consumated, LT would always have a bad taste in his mouth about the deal.
