I had a good one and I put it away. Most of the year we spent in one CG. It ran a whopping 32 lbs press on a good day. Sometimes, we filled the onboard fresh water tank and used our onboard pump to get a decent shower. I have to go find it.

One advantage to 32 (max) psi water source... you don't fill up your holding tanks very often.

You are lucky but your experience is as you said based on always going to the same place. What happens if they upgrade the water system when you're not there? My friend & I spent a full day repairing his Class C. Every fitting was leaking from not using a regulator. I'm not saying you need a regulator for your RVing needs. I use my seat belt all the time even though I hope I never need it.
That CG will not upgrade their water system any time soon - wish they would. However, I do travel a little and as I mentioned, I need to find my regulator and have it ready. Not saying its not a good idea in some places, just a lousy CG water pressure situation where we spend most of our winter. I have used my regulator previously.

Every RVer should have one at the ready - not the cheap plastic one. Always check around when you pull into an unfamiliar CG and ask about the water press.

Would like a clarification, though... If I am running 30# out the CG tap, and I put a regulator on, does that lower the press even further? Some here have indicated that it does. I'm not too sure...

If the RV Manufacturers could build RV's with any kind of quality we wouldn't need to use Water Pressure regulators. Regulators just cover up for poor build and assembly procedures at the RV manufacturers. And we buy these things amd put up with this nonsense. What part of this don't you understand?

I wouldn't think it would affect the pressure, but if it is a cheapie, it will cut down on flow.

Anything you put in the line.. elbow, filter, tight loop, etc will cut down on the flow.. thus the reason for a good pressure regulator that has a higher flow rate..
