I am staying put for the Summer, so I would like an awning room. Not so much for bugs, its more to keep the kittens in and expand their play area. Also to keep the deer off my herbs.
I am looking at Carefree Add a Room w/ privacy panels, but there is not much info to find on awning rooms. So if you have one, could you please answer these questions. I think an owner would know more than the maker.
1. Do they have a back wall to cover trailer to ground.
2. Do they have a ceiling panel?
2. How do the walls terminate? Could I attach a floor panel?
3. What about the wind, can the whole thing be securely attached or does it have to be taken down in anything over a stiff breeze?
4. Any advice on set up?
I appreciate any and all answers, I want to do this right.

I have one for the comfort of my pets and they, and I love it. Mine is made by Camco.
To answer your questions.
1. Yes, there is a skirt that attaches to the bottom of your rig and gets staked down to the ground. You can also use 2x4's wrapped up in the excess length of the skirt to hold it down. Great for when you have concrete next to your patio side.
2. Your awning is your ceiling panel.
3. On the Camco, the walls attach to the rig with clear plastic tabs that you pre-install on the side of the rig. They hold well.
4. I found that with the room attached, the whole awning/room assembly is more stable in winds than just the awning alone.
5. As for set up, you will need to take a few hours at home to preset the whole assembly. Attach the tabs (Camco) in the proper location. Attach and trim the skirt to fit properly, etc. Mine can be set up without a ladder but I am over 6' tall. It is much easier to do if you have a ladder handy. As for set up time once you have everything figured out, I would say 20 minutes. It's time well spent so your pets can have a place out from under your feet.
Mine is 16' long and I use the 2x4" system as mentioned above. CW also sells long bags that you fill with water to hold the bottom secure to the ground. I guess they would work well also but I just happened to have a stack of 2x4's and they work well for me.

One thing to keep in mind is the location of the furnace exhaust. The local RV shop's around here will not install an "Add a Room" if the furnace will exhaust into the room.

I have the Carefree Add A Room.
1. Yes
2. The awning itself is the ceiling. The awning mat is the floor.
3. The room actually stabilizes the awning and keeps the wind from getting under it. If properly secured to the cround, it only needs to come off in severe weather.
4. Once you get the hang of it, it sets up in 40 minutes. I use a full size awning mat for the floor. The dogs love the extra space.
Get the snapless side wall option. Casey

We have a power awning with no support legs to go to the ground. Can we still put up the add-a-room?? I had thought of getting two legs made that I could attatch to the awning arm so that it could be strapped to the ground. Would this work? Also how does it get attatched to the awning itself?
Thanks for any help you can give.

We also have the carefree...just love it...to add to the other post....all the panels zip together. The top of the front panels slide into the extra groove in the awning tube. The tops of the side panels on each end have spring loaded tension rods. One end of the rod fits in a hole you drill in the awning tube. the other end has a rubber cover and fits against the trailer side. Instead of paying the extra $$ for the snapless option...which you still have to drill some holes..I made a arm that mounts to the side of the trailer using 2 screws out of 1 1/4"square aluminum tube then screwed the snaps into these... At the top of the square tube I drilled a 1" hole in the side facing out for the tension bar to go in..all works great...only hole in the side are the threaded inserts to hold the square tubes
For the 2nd question about the power awning..I had thought about this....first thing I thought of was those center support arms used on regular awnings... the ones you install in the center..to take to bow out of a long awning..they make a model of this that has a 2nd arm that you extend down to the ground.... Use these at the ends..instead of the tension arms.....the arms to the ground for support??
I DO NOT have a power awning...this was just a thought..if our next unit had one.
PM me if you need some pictures.

We have a carefree and have enjoyed it. I saw one at the beach that stayed put during a terrible spring storm right on the edge of the bay! I noticed they had tied down their ends to the ground tho.

Sig. 5er has an electric awning (Carefree Travle'r) and I was wondering if there were a screen room application for it, went to their website and according to them, they DO make a screen room for the electric awning.

Thank You for the replies. I just finished installing a LTD. The ease of installation depends on how everything lines up down the wall. Mine ran through the basement door, so I had to offset the edge a bit. Carefree have a snapless option which looks worth having. The edge of the wall has a rubber bead so I used two lenghts of awning rail screwed to the wall, it just slides up with the help of a little candle wax. It doesn't look bad right next to the awning arms.
This link is to the installation manual, I wish I had found it earlier.
