Anywhere we've camped the rules state do not cut through another campers site. It's clear and simple. People that do it are careless and disrespectful PERIOD. We have our dog tied up on our site relaxing like we do or just sitting by our chair and if someone decides to take a shortcut, i just let the dog scare the @#*^ out of them. I simply say to them that if they were walking where they should, my dog wouldn't have to let them know they didn't belong there.

I don't cut through others campsites, and when adults do it and move my chairs around so they can cut through then it bothers me. As long as you don't touch my stuff I couldn't care less really.

I remember when I was a child camping with my parents we went out to some attraction and when we came back we found all six of our folding chairs missing from under the pop-up. Someone 3 sites over had some guests come over and decided to borrow our chairs while we were out, didn't even leave a note. Thankfully they brought them back. Looking back now I find it a little funny how some people are with others belongings.

Great Topic! Is it a rant? No I think posting this on a forum might help educate others that just don't see the wrong in something that appears so little. My wife and I are 30 and have two kids nine and seven and my two know that cutting through a campsite is wrong, its rude and its disrespectful. They were taught not to do this at home in our own neighbourhood too. I just find people getting worse and worse as time goes and I have only been around for a short time. Maybe its the strict army up bringing or the soldier in me but..You want respect...you give respect. Now stay off my site..unless you have a beer to share or some helpful advice.

You run into all kinds of people out camping. Far too many have no regard for anoyone outside of themselves. This has changed for the worse over the years. The bad part is as the population grows, so does the inconsiderate population.
You see this everyday on the public highway with the lane blockers and cut-offs.

Try to be the better side and politely tell them they are ... donkeys and respect other people.

I guess, since I see people do it quite frequently, that is is OK to cut through the parking lot next to the traffic light to avoid the red light, isn't it?
Actually, NO, that lot is there for the convenience of the customers of the store. It is PRIVATE PROPERTY, and unless you plan to enter the store, you have no right to utilize the parking lot. Using the lot for a short cut or time saver is criminal trespass.
Your site, that you paid the rent on, is yours for the duration of your stay. I have NO RIGHT to enter that site for any reason. That's just the way I look at it.

Rude and disrespectful. That said, I believe those that condone such actions are the same. Its my site for the duration of my stay and I expect respect for my things. I am not rude with my request to respect my space, but have gotten rude replys from people when asked to respect my space. It's not a generation thing it's rudeness. Common in many areas, not just camping.

You guys kill me with your "Oh it's the generation" BS

I'm 28. My wife and I have been RVing for about 6 years and 2 TT. We have a young boy and another boy on the way. We are both VERY respectful of others.

I lock the doors on my truck form the inside at night rather than the Keyless entry so the headlights don't turn on and shine in somebody's windows or tent. We don't let our dog bark. We don't play our music loud enough for anyone outside of our site to hear it, and we DON'T WALK THROUGH ANYONE ELSE'S CAMPSITE. When my kids are old enough to run around on their own, they WILL NOT walk/ride through anyone else's site!! It is very rude and disrespectful.

It has nothing to do with the generation. It's how you raise your kids. The kids that are bad eggs today were raised by the generation that is 35-45 years old today. And that generation was raised by the generation that is 55-65 today and so on.

So I ask this question. Those of you who said you NEVER walk through peoples campsites; Do your kids? How about your grandkids?

You are perfectly correct. Singing: Aaaaaaaaaammmmmmeeeeeennnnnnnnnnnnnnn!

I completely understand where this is coming form. We do blame "the generation" for a lot of stuff. I'm one of the "baby boomers" and hate the moniker.

In the last 20 minutes, I've had 2 separate couples walk across my mat UNDER my awning, because it was shorter to cut through after taking their dogs to unload. All four people were at least 60 years old. I'm sure after being RUDE enough myself to tell them about it, I bet they won't do it again! Btw, I'm 53...

Do you guys really get that much solitude out of a 15 x 20 foot piece of ground? Is it really that awe inspiring of a view of the adjacent rv's slideout that someone walking between you and it will ruin your day?

Couldnt you all just smile and say happy 4th instead? Surely it would have to be easier on your blood pressure.

Apart from the rude self entitled attitude, I like for my indoor cats to be able to sit and look out the screen door without having the******scared out of them by strangers, and especially strangers with dogs. Maybe someone's elderly wife opens the door and steps down, to be startled by a stranger who is right there with a dog, loses her balance, falls and breaks a hip, because somebody was too lazy to walk around an occupied campsite. I'm sure she could smile at them......
