I've only been to Zion once and it was over a Halloween. Not too hot to hike, the fall colors are beautiful, and the crowds/traffic was not a problem at all. Made a (long) day trip down to the GC North Rim for more cool hiking and empty CG's.

We were there in mid-Sept last year and it was very nice. I have to say we did have 5 inches of snow one morning at Bryce. No problem at Zion.
