Hi. New RV'ers looking to purchase our first MH. We're probably going to end with a Class A. Looking around the last couple months on various RV websites (rvtraderonline.com, rvt.com, etc.) I've noticed a few deals that fall in the category of "too good to be true". We're expecting to get a good deal, but not in the range of the subject above. We noticed the '08 Vectra last week and have been assured by the private seller that there's nothing wrong. Of course I'm skeptical and if I do continue to pursue this lead, you can bet I'll get it checked out and then some! Anyway, has anyone else noticed any of these deals or had experience with something like this? Comments appreciated.

I purchased my truck (08 Chevy Silverado 3500 EXT Cab D/A DRW LT LB) with 7k miles for $24,000. New cost is around $53,000. Not a single problem aside from small things that the dealership covered 100% under warranty. Seems like some people bought expensive items before the recession and now cannot afford to keep them and need to get rid of them ASAP. Like you said, get it checked out but I wouldnt panic over a price that low.

The Vectra at that price is just a little to good to be true IMHO.

Funny time for this post. I just got a lead on a nice DP that is selling for 50% below low book. I have that same feeling like "what's wrong with this picture?"

Is it possible to have a scam going on somehow?? Or is it a sign of the economy?

Don't assume a deal is too good to be true. Even though the RV market is a little better overall than it was 2 to 3 months ago, it is still in the dumps and unbelievable deals can be had. Many people are not even qualifying for the new RV loans because of the stricter bank qualifications and more thorough loan applications; so if you can go in prequalified, you can knock off several more thousands.

Will cost a little more but if it is the one you want you could have an escrow company handle all the paper work.

Even two years ago I thought about passing on our MH because of the low price but it passed the smell test and the seller had owned the MH for 10 years. He had stated he lost his wife three years earlier to cancer. What he is not tell us until after I made a deposit that he was going the next week to start his own chemo treatments. He just did not want it in the yard when he came home from his first treatment an put a below wholesale no haggle price on it. He did sell it to the first caller and the first one to look at it.

If one has doubts or even not the escrow idea is good. Scams are common.

Had a friend buy a sand rail at a good price. Ad said it had a blown engine, everyone figured a broken engine, BUT the engine had a blower on it and ran fine...

guymon.hall, where did you say this was? I was looking all over and the cheapest one I find is in the $300K. If could be possible that the seller miss printed the price and it should be $355,400. If you don't want it I'll take it for the price... the generator and tires are worth that much.

The listing indicates Los Angeles, and I saw on rvtraderonline.com. Looked again today and it's not listed anymore.
