Thanks for the comments from everyone. I think we'll probably let it pass us by; to be honest we were looking for a more entry-level MH, and we haven't even walked through any floor plans yet, so I think we'll keep doing some homework before jumping on a supposed good deal.

And one more update. Turns out this is most likely a scam of some kind. I had made contact with the private seller (as stated earlier) and asked some questions. The seller gave me a story of his wife being sick and needing surgery, which is why they were selling the MH. After I emailed and said we were no longer interested, the seller then came back and asked what model we were looking for and maybe he could help us get a good deal. Sorry, not to think to harshly of my fellow man, but sounds mighty fishy to me!

Is it possible to have a scam going on somehow?? Or is it a sign of the economy?
Followup to my story. This is on a 2005 Phaeton $40K:
"The RV has clean title and is not under leasing or bank liabilities. The condition of this RV is incredible and well maintained. The paint is in perfect shape. There are no dings, scratches, damage on the body or rust. This vehicle never been involved in any accident or damages. The RV is already at the shipping company, ready to be delivered. I have prepared it for someone but the guy's loan was not approved and right now it is still for sale. Considering that the motor home is in California I through that it would be best if we use an escrow service because it will be safer for both of us and after doing some research I have found that the eBay Motors Purchase Protection Program it is the fastest and most reliable on the market. If you agree with me and if you are really interested then let me know and I will give you some more information.
I am waiting for your email.
Thank you,
Charles"
Sounds like a scam to me. Started out to be about 200 miles away from me here in MN. Now it's in CA. For a yuk, I should ask him if it's OK to send a cashier check, or do I have to go thru all the trouble of figuring out how to wire the money

Always check those too good to be true sales! Here's another angle: my neighbors were divorcing and the husband was trying to unload their RV real
fast, real cheap so not to have to share. Luckily I noticed the ad,recognized the phone number and notified the wife. Big mess! Potential problem for the buyer he had already lined up! Better safe than sorry, always be skeptical.

Just to make sure I asked the guy for the VIN number on the rig so I could do some followup checking on it. This is what I got back
You will receive the title and all the documents in the same time with the motor home. Here is how the process works:
- you give me your full name and shipping address,
- I start a transaction on eBay company,
- they send you the invoice with payment instructions,
- you send the first payment to eBay trust account - half of the price,
- they confirm me that they received and secured the funds,
- I ship the RV and provide you the tracking #,
- you send the balance to eBay,
- you receive the RV, inspect it and if you decide to keep it they will release the funds to me,
- if you don't keep the RV they will send the money back to you.
They will hold the money until the RV is delivered to you, with properly executed title. You have 10 days for the inspection period. If the RV is not like described you will have to ship it back in 30 business days on my expense, but I am sure that you will love it.
If you agree please send me your full name and shipping address in order to start the transaction!
Thank you,
Charles
