I know we need our passports to get into Canada and back into the US but are there any other issues or restrictions we will face taking our camper across the border?
Thanks,
Hector

Current tags and registration for vehicles and trailers, proof of rabies vaccine for dogs, some types of fruits, veggies, meats may not be allowed into Canada, and all guns must be registered. You can take rifles and shotguns for hunting and home defense, but generally with few exceptions, pistols must be left at the border for safe-keeping.
Check out this website for all information about crossing the border into Canada for other items I am sure I have forgotten about: Canada Border Services Agency

Thank you for the information and the link. No animals or guns on this trip so hopefully that will make crossing easier.

The less food of any kind you have with you the easier it will be. Especially coming back into the US. A lot of folks from BC camp at the same State Park we go to a lot and they say it is so bad they are now buying groceries after they cross.

If you have live potted plants or trees in your RV I recommend that you not take them across the border. We had a problem coming back in to the US because of a potted miniature bamboo.

And all. I would question the statement that you can bring a long gun into Canada for Home Defense. AFAIK any suggestion that a gun will or may be used as a weapon is a no no.

Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

No guns or plants for us when we travel. We usually fill up on food before we head out. I guess we will just carry the minimum until we get to our destination.
Thank you.

We don't take food across the border in either direction.

They can also get funny about alcohol and tobacco if you have more than they think is necessary. and remember this all works both ways not just coming into Canada but re entering the states can also incur scrutiny.

They can have my food, my gun, my cat and my plant but if they go for my Pinot we might just have an international incident!
