When it's pretty hot, what is the best way to run the air conditioning. Do you put it on automatic and low or run it and put it in hi?

In very hot weather it will help to run the fan on low speed. This will allow the air coming out of the vent to be cooler. Also; if you are sitting in the living area, close all outlet-vents in the bedroom, bathroom, and areas not being used at the time. At bedtime reverse it. Close all vents away from your sleeping area. This way the AC will cool the area needed most.

If you ever run your AC on low speed you risk running the chance of your AC freezing up...always run it on high speed

If it happens to freeze up (you can tell by minimal airflow from the vents and no dripping from the top of the trailer) you have to turn it off and wait for it to thaw out...

The air conditioner is designed to run in any setting in any temperature. Unless your owner's manual says to do something different, set it at whatever setting makes you comfortable.

I just set my thermostat at temp desired, on automatic and let it figure it out on its own. My 13,500 carrier keeps it a nice 71* in while its 94 out. I leave ALL my outlets OPEN in the ceiling. Works for me. JMHO

If you know it is going to be a hot day, your campsite is in the sun, and you will be staying in the camper, start the air conditioner in the morning on low and let it run. If you wait until after lunch on a hot day, the A/C can have trouble lowering the temperature in the RV.

When you turn the AC on set the fan on high and automatic and leave it...if you know the day is going to be hot turn the AC on early enough in the morning as opposed to turning it on when the inside is hot...leave all drapes/window coverings closed...to help in the cooling you can go to Lowes and buy some Reflectix (window "insulation) and cut to size to fit each window opening...

As I stated above running the AC on low on a hot, humid day will more than likely cause the AC to freeze up...

I turn mine on, set the thermo to the desired setting. I like the fan on high for the movement of air in the trailer and the noise at night.

I look at it this way, on high there is more air to cool the condenser coils making the A/C more efficient. Remember the same fan motor turns both the evaporator and condenser fans. It is like a window unit not a home central unit.
