Yes, buy a major brand quiet one, be it Honda or Yammie. If you don't need A/C a 2,000 watt will work. If your converter is no larger than 45-50 amps, a 1,000 will work, and be lighter and cheaper.

And if you want to run everthing get a Robins/Subaru 4300. They also come in a different costumes. Cummins/Onan (red) John Deer (green&yellow. Saw the red verison at a local hardware store (Go Safety) for $1500 which is a smoking price.

A Honda/Yamaha 1000 will power up to about 45 amps into the battery. If your converter is rated higher you will need a 2000.

Make it easy on yourself and limit your search to Honda and Yamaha generators. I have a Yamaha 2400, and it can run our 13.5 AC and allow us to camp as comfortably as when we have shore power. It weighs just 75lbs and goes darn near 8 hours on 1.5 - 2 gallons of gas. Best of all, it's as quiet as they come.

15000 I would think not, and charge batteries and lights if night. Maybe someone on here will have that set up, and let you know

new york... guess you dont need AC? if you want to spend a bunch of money buy the honda or the yammie. if you need your AC or just want to save some money... and you know how to use your generator responsibly you will save some money getting a champion.
i define responsbile as, if you dont need to be running it then dont run it, dont put it on an extension cord and park it right next to your neighbor so that you dont hear it (even if you have a facny gen), and just because you can get away with running durring non generator hours doesn't mean you should.

I second the recommendation on the Yamaha 2400. Quiet as a mouse and runs the 13500 AC and microwave (not simultaneously). About $1200 total from wisesales.com with free shipping.
