We are going to travel from Niagara Falls to Acadia NP in Maine. Niether my wife or I have ever been to Vermont and would like to at least drive through it. Does anyone know of a good east-west corridor through Vermont?
Thanks

If you want to avoid interstates take rt104 from Niagara to I-81 then drive north to Watertown and pick up rt3 to Plattsburg, then take the ferry across Lake Champlain to Burlington where you would pick up rt2 for the trip across VT,NH and ME.

I'll second Jambo's advice - there is a recent thread concerning Route 2. If you are coming East on the Thruway, get off at Albany, take NY 7 to Bennington VT, VT 7 North to Manchester, VT 11 east to Springfield, I-91 north to St Johnsbury, and US 2 East to Bangor. If you search this forum you'll see mopre posts on the subject...

We took Rt 2 in May basically from around Bangor to Danville, Vt, except for around 10 mile in the WMNF area since we stayed at Twin Mtn. and wanted to check out the area west of Danville and for about the 10 or 15 miles we went it was like a roller coaster going towards Montplier, not really big hills, but constantly up and down. Except for about 3 1/2 mile areas around the NH/Me border the rest of Rt. 2 was decent.

Thanks a lot for the input everyone. I am investigating these routes right now. We are leaving the Detroit area tonight. The excitement level is high.
