Are you talking about Hwy 20 from I 5 at Williams, CA and then over to Hwy 101 at Ukiah and then on to Oregon? If so it is a good route.
If you are talking about Hwy 20 from I 5 in Oregon, I have never been on that route, maybe someone else will chime in, so let us know which Hwy 20 you are inquiring about. Will help in gettin a good answer

20 from I-5 over to Newport, OR is a good road, easy drive, that we've traversed quite a few times.
In fact, we'll be going that way again in a few weeks.
If I was coming from SAC, thats the road I'd take. Once you get out of CA & into OR, I-5 is much smoother & in much better shape.

I'm talking about Hwy 20 in Oregon. On my map, it looks like Hwy 34 from I-5 to Corvallis, then Hwy 20 to Newport.

It's good road, they have turn outs or passing lanes so the slower MH don't block the road. they have redone the road a few years ago and it's in good condition.

When they are done with the Eddyville bypass, it will be a better drive than it is now. I really can't believe the amount of bridges they had to put in to make that happen. The good news is most of the construction is off the road, only a little by Eddyville and then again on the Sam's creek end.

For you it is not the best. Go west from I 5 to head for Reedsport and then go north on 101 to newport. Lots of wonderful coastline to see on that stretch!!

We just did Corvallis to Newport on RT 20 3 weeks ago with a 40 ft 5th wheel. It was fine all the way. As mentioned a couple small strips of construction with less than a 5 miute wait.
