Hi All....We are a couple of Newbies with 3 dogs going on our first winter trip from Dec to April. We are staying at a resort at Myrtle Beach for the 4 months and appreciate any advise about routing that I can get. We would like to take our time and concentrate on the route as well as the destination. How many nights would be easy. I have looked at this trip on Mapquest, Goggle and Free Trips but, non are specific to MH travel. Appreciate your saged imput.

Make your way over to I-81 and follow it south to southwest Virginia. Then, take I-77 south to Columbia, SC where you pickup I-20 to Florence, SC. After that, find Hwy 501 into Myrtle Beach. There's a right turn onto Hwy 543 (I think that is right) that will take you into the RV resort area.
There are some alternatives. Specifically, you could take I-95 as soon as you can. However, traffic around Baltimore and DC can be horrible unless you try to sneak through in the middle of the night. Be mindful of snow and ice in the Virginia mountains.

That is the route I take to Hilton Head SC. Heaviest traffic is from Harrisburg PA to junction of I81 and I66. Be aware of fog on I81 from Scranton to Pine Grove PA. We always stay at Pine Grove KOA, should be able to make that the first day. Next we stay at Wytheville KOA I81 & I77 and be in Myrtle in the early afternoon the next day

Thanks, we appreciate your reply. Our first time is a little daunting but, with people like you and popscolly on the road we are feeling a bit more confident. We have decided to leave for a month to Northern Ontario (Kapuskasing) mid July going to a couple of Bluegrass Festivals on the way......Wish us luck.

I-20 is probably the easiest but not the quickest.

If you follow my routing you will end up going through Charlotte during rush hour if you go through Monday to Friday. Not that big a deal, although it is somewhat heavier than in Bancroft. Just go with the flow.
