I was thinking of joining goodsam after receiving some of their mailings. Is it worth the money? Are they good to deal with or are they just a company with a good web site. Is there a better place to join out there? Any info will be appreciated.

You might want to take a look at passportamerica.com. For approx $44 annually, you get 50% off camping sites, with limitations. Check their site for areas you might be considering traveling to or thru. Then check rvparkreviews.com.

Good Sam membership will get small discount on member parks, along with other services if you wish to purchase them, roadside service, etc.

These memberships are annual, so if you're not going to be using their campgrounds, don't join for that yr.

I tried Good Sam for a year and you usually can save the cost of membership if you frequent the campgrounds that honor their discounts. Plus they have a decent RV magazine which can be good reading at times. Alas, I did not renew after the first year since I prefer state, national, and COE parks for camping. I suggest trying it out for a year and see if it works for you, many forum members love being part of Good Sam.

I read a very long time ago now, when I was a relative "newbie" to this lifestyle, that GoodSam originated from fellow campers always lending helping hand to each other (GOOD SAMaritan from holy scripture).

Nice to think on. We used to display our GoodSam sticker rountinely to let others know we were members also. We don't worry about such anymore very much. We continue to be GoodSam members now for probably 20 years or longer. Really sad to me.

We travel full time and have Good Sams, PassportAmerica, and Escapees. If you join nothing else join PassportAmerica as it saves a bunch. Escapees is also a great membership. We are thinking of dropping the Good Sams.

We're charter life time members and it has paid for itself many times over. People will complain about the club but like any club it's what you put into and use that makes the difference. As far as mail we called and have not received any in years but we do get constant junk mail from AARP and we're not members.
We tell people to go to one State Samboree to see what your state organization does.

As said by others, a lot depends on how/where you travel/stay. Your own style.
I like Good Sam, like the magazine as well. I often stay at parks that honor the Good Sam discount. Even some that aren't members have given the discount just because I asked if they were members! And I like the chapter people, the get togethers etc. Not anything else like it here in my area. Have fun!

The answer depends on what you are looking for.

Discounts?
There are many organizations that do it and some are better.

Nationwide club?
Good Sam puts on a national rally every year and each state puts on rallies. Ohio has three state rallies per year. I also belong to a local chapter which has an event every month. Also included is a monthly magazine and consumer advocate service. Escapees also has a great club, I don't know which would be better.

This question has been asked many times and a search will give you lots of reading.

p.s. hope you are still enjoying that new trailer and my old hitch.

You can get Good Sam membership (No, not Sam's Club) for $7 for the first year at Walmart in the RV section. That's what I did last week.

We like the 50% discounts from Passport America much better than the 10% from Good Sam.
