I tend not to put out the awning if I am camped in the woods, no rain expected, and sunlight is limited. However, I see others, in the same campground with like conditions, that have out their awnings. I tend to wonder why. The camp sites are relatively dark to begin with and once you put out the awning it only gets darker. About the only time I use my awning is when we are camped in "open" type areas (like at the ocean) and we need more shade. How about you?

We use our awning frequently as the weather (high winds) dictates. It appears to me that people just don't use them for shade or rain but as an extension of their RV such as a porch on a house. I tend not to wonder what other people are doing when camping as long as it has no affect on me. Happy camping!!

Still have not opened it in the two years we have owned it. I am afraid it will not go back or I will loose some digits after trying to get it open once. The PO had it open when I showed up to pick it up and had me to close it.

Opening the awning also inhibits Gamma Rays, and thus thwarts the Satellites in orbit from being able to read our minds. That's why I always buy Aluminum RV's...it saves us from using up all of the Reynolds wrap making our "special mind protecting beanies"!

Ours only goes out when we're home and want the shade. The big window awning stays out much of the time unless high winds are forecast. We often snap sun screens over windows to keep the inside cool.

To each his own, but unless we need the shade for people or to make the refrigerator work more efficiently we don't put it out and never leave it out when we are away from the campsite.

We camp at least half the time with another family that we have been friends with for 20 years. If he is stoped for more that 10 seconds the awning is out. We only put ours out when needed. Drives him nuts! To each his own.

I almost always put my awning out when weekend camping. It doesn't feel like I'm setup and camping without it!

We like the awning out. Set-up doesn't feel complete without it. Windy, rainey days we don't bother.

Always out, unless it's too windy then it goes away. Just doesn't feel right without it
