When buying a Fleetwood RV at Olinger Camping World the finance manager told me Fleetwood warranties are still good and they are honoring them. He said if I ever have a problem they won’t fix I can bring it to any Camping World and they will honor the warranty. Two days after I take delivery I get a letter stating I forgot to sign the warranty wavier for the loan stating I am buying motor home with knowledge of there being no warranty.
Officials from Olinger Camping World started hounding both me and my wife several times a day asking for this note to be signed and faxed back. Two different people from the dealership kept calling and exhibited abusive attitudes when I kept insisting I was never told about this and was in fact told it would be honored. They said that was never told us even though my wife and I both remember him telling us that. Then we had a problem with the motor home. The cargo door kept flying open. Other cargo doors they said they would fix before we took delivery started coming undone as well. Bring in the signed waiver about the warranty, they said, and they would fix them. We did so.
While we are waiting for the call to pick up our motor home from the service department we got a letter from a bank we have a boat loan on. (We used our old motor home as trade in with a payoff due). Somehow our boat got paid off. We could not figure out what happened until we got our bill for the monthly payment on our old motor home. Boy, I thought, did this dealership mess up. They paid off the wrong loan. They began to act like they were in a panic. They start calling us, blaming everyone but themselves about this mistake.
At this point we still had not been able to get the storage doors fixed. The service department called and said the warranty was no good because Fleetwood was not honoring it. The finance manager told me if I take care of the documents for the mistake on the boat getting paid they will go ahead and fix my doors at no charge. So I did everything they asked to help them get the money back from the paid off boat loan so they could then pay off the old motor home. (The bank representative for the boat loan said the finance manager from Olinger Camping World was rude and blaming the bank for processing the check.)
I later picked up my motor home and discovered the door was not fixed. The service department said the finance manager never instructed them to fix the doors, and he reminded me Fleetwood was no longer honoring warranties on new motor homes sold.
In the meantime we had paid two months payments on our old motor home since taking delivery on our new motor home. The finance manager said I did not need to worry. They paid off the old motor home from the refund they received from the bank for the boat and would be mailing us a refund for the two months payment we made after they took possession of the old motorhome. Two weeks went by and we had not heard anything. We called and were told they would not be refunding the money to us. Apparently there was an early payoff penalty they were charged they supposedly did not know about so they were keeping our payments we made to help make up for that charge. I called the bank and they told me dealerships know all loans they pay off for a trade in have this fee. It should not have come to surprise to them. The bank said we are entitled to that refund from Olinger Camping World. The contract had a payoff amount the bank said was correct.
Olinger Camping World needs to honor their contract. I am sorry to say they absolutely will not and even get mad at us when we call about it.
Olinger Camping World have been doing nothing but lying to us from the start. No one there will take responsibility for their actions. Our coach storage doors are still not fixed, and we are being told they won't get fixed because of the Fleetwood warranty being no good.
We even bought the extended 7 year warranty. Guess what? It does not go into effect until the Fleetwood warranty expires in THREE YEARS! Then I found out when this happens the 7 year warranty is only good for four years once the Fleetwood warranty expires. What A MESS! No Fleetwood Warranty, 7 year extended warranty that won’t cover anything Fleetwood is responsible for (even though they don’t honor their warranties any more), and after waiting for Fleetwood warranty to expire, the 7 year warranty is really only good for four years. (Smoke and Mirrors? You bet!)
Anyone who would do business with Olinger Camping World is taking a real chance of being the victim of fraud and misrepresentation. This whole mess has really soured our excitement about buying a new motor home.

John -- this is DEFINATELY something you need to document in a very concise way and file a complaint with the attorney general. They may be able to help you get it straightened out with you hiring an attorney. BTW - when you send a letter to the AG, send a copy to your attorney (if you have one) AND to Ollinger and the bank.....don't hesitate. They'll probably start jumping thru hoops to help you out! Good luck and keep us posted.

Wow that's quite a Tale of Woe!

I was under the impression from what Others have said on This Forum that Fleetwood was Honoring their Warranties, unlike Monaco and Others!

I guess that They aren't such Hero's after all!

Fleetwood warranty is only one year....chassis is three years and is not covered by Fleetwood.

I would start moving up the chain of command at camping world until I found some one high enough who will care about their customers and reputation.

This is great! I am getting good advise here. They are really playing hard ball with me and both banks tell me they have never heard of such a mess

Sounds like a real mess with the warranty on your new Fleetwood. A friend of mine at work bought a new Fleetwood about 8 months ago. His RV has been a nightmare as far a mechanical problems go. One of the many problems is his cargo doors all open up everytime he drives down the road and they have been fixed 3 times so far by the dealership and still will not stay closed. He has contacted an attorney in regards to the Lemon Law, but it does not look good because of the Fleetwood bankruptcy and the new company has not bought off on any current coach warranties. I feel for your problems and I hope something gets worked out in your favor.

The Lemon Law will probably not be of any help, very few cover the house portion, only the chassis and then only for safety related items.
Been there, done that.

Believe it's the East one as that's where Olingers moved to and has a CW store. Don't know if their West Hillsboro one is even open anymore and they're not connected to the CW in Wilsonville.

After they lied once to you, you should have gotten it in writing about the warranty, before helping them getting the boat loan straightened out. As a former President used to say trust but verify.
Hope you get to enjoy your camper anyway.
