I'm in the mountains where our 2000 Wanderer Glide Slide is and somehow have weak internet...
We hooked up our electricity to the trailer (1am in the morning) and turned on a light. It was nice and bright then all of a sudden it went dim...All the 12 volt lights are dim and the fridge isn't working too. All the Plugs are working as well as the air conditioner and microwave.
I believe the culprit is the inverter? Not too sure of the name but the unit that changed the household current to 12 volt? It normally makes a little fan noise. It isn't now.
I checked the fuse box..o.k. checked the 15amp and the 30amp fuse and changed them all just in case...still it isn't working....
Is there any quick fix I can do?

Thanks...Irene

I APOLOGIZE...the batteries seem to be dead... the unit that checks the grey, black, fresh water and the battery is dead. I push the battery button and it quickly turns red and goes away....

Thanks...Irene

Sounds like your converter is dead.

Hi TAKASTONE.

Sorry to read about your troubles....
The appliance in question is actually a CONVERTER. 120vac to 12vdc.
Check your general purpose circuit breaker, if that is not tripped the converter has likely failed.
If you can't get to an rv service center, a quick way to get back "on line" is to hook a 12v battery charger up to your aux batteries. Let them charge for 1/2 hour, or so, before you start using systems. Leaving the charger in place should keep you going until you can get the converter repaired.

Good luck.

Your converter is connected to 120 volt somewhere. Mine is plugged in with a regular electrical plug. Even though my converter is in an outside cabinet, if the GFCI in the bathroom trips, the converter and refrigerator will not work.

If not that. your converter probably has fuses in it.

p.s. when asking questions like this you should always give as much info as possible. IE. brand and type of RV, brand and model of converter, etc.

Even with a bad battery if your CONverter is working ok, should be fine. Good thing it wasn't 1am in the afternoon.

Glad to hear your problem is solved! When you get home take a few minutes and go through your electrical system to understand where your converter is so you can check it to see if it has a fuse or fuses and figure out which circuit breaker serves it. OEM converters are a common failure point, so good to know as much about them as you can.
