Will be staying at James Island County Park next week and plan to go into the city and do the Ft. Sumter tour.
Would like to know of any restaurants that are good but not too expensive. We like seafood and would like to avail ourselves of some regional fare.
Any reccomendations would be appreciated.

Hyman's Seafood Restaurant is in the middle of the historic area and is outstanding, but isn't cheap. Worth trying!!

We recently spent a week at James Island County Park and loved it! We ate out alot. One place we liked alot is
The Buccaneer
service was great and food was really good. I am really happy to see
they are listed as the #1 restaurant in Charleston on tripadvisor.

You can get a list of restaurants at that link along with reviews. We ate at Jestine's Kitchen and the fried chicken was super. The deserts were great as well. Both of these will be on our must eat places when we go to Charleston again. We did eat at Hymans and I am not sure if I would recommend it or not. One place I would not recommend is Hominy Grill. The shrimp was not fresh.
There are so many great places to eat in Charleston. It is such a super place and I cannot wait to return. I hope you give the Buccaneer restaurant a shot. We really enjoyed it. Jestine's was good too.

Haven't been that way in a while but when I do I always head toward Folly Beach. There are two places there that I always like to go to. One is the Folly Beach Crab Shack. It's located on Center street which is the main drag into Folly coming from James Island. The other is Anchor Line Restaurant. It is located on the highway just before getting into Folly. The Crab Shack has an outside area and a bar. It can get real crowded during peak times. Anchor Line is a "no-frills," paper plate kind of place. Nothing fancy but a lot of good food for the money.
Some people have mentioned Hyman's. To me, it's OK but I consider it a tourist trap kind of place. The food isn't all that great, there's usually a wait, and it's pricey. About the only things going for it are it's name and location. It is located very close to The Market.

We spend our time over in Mt Pleasant area. There we like the Boulevard Diner. Not fancy but good low country food.
Also up the coast on 17, the Sea-Wee Cafe at Awendaw, is just a hole in the wall. Check it out and I am sure that you will be pleased.

You would not be displeased to try this place. We were at James Island a couple of years ago. ate there, loved it. Good atmosphere, great food, decent prices and it is on the water (OK...backwater).
James Island County Park is a very nice place to visit. Can't wait to go back.
Enjoy!!!

Giiligans is a nice steak and seafood place. Make sure you see the Hunley tour, simply amazing!!! We were just there a few weeks ago and that was the highlight of my trip as well as Plantation we toured in Mt Pleasant.
