My '06 did great stock ... you won't have any issues running stock.

I added the Edge Juice w/Attitude for a couple of reasons.
1st ... wanted to monitor the EGT's, Load amd Boost.
2nd ... figured the extra power wouldn't hurt.

I leave it on the 1st position only, and it has a noticable improvement in both power & fuel economy ... as long as I behave myself

I have the same truck towing a slightly heavier 5th wheel, the truck is bone stock, (I like my warranty), and it has towed great in the mountains of NC,SC,TN,VA and WV. You'll do fine, you need no mods.

I lived in CO for for over 30 years and I pulled all of the passes with a lot less engine and trans than you have. You'll be fine with it, just sit back and relax and let the truck do the work for you. Only thing to remember is after you top the pass you have to come down it. Just take it easy coming do and don't let your speed get away from you.

I agee with the othrs leave it stock.

Enjoy

Leave the truck in cruise and let the Allison tranny do the thinking, don't be alarmed about higher RPM's if it downshifts to slow you down. It won't hurt itself, pretty smart bugger that tranny is..

Your rig will do the mountains and more. All you need is diesel
fuel I pulled a 33' Teton with a 2006 GMC 3500 Duramax and
never had any problems in the mountains. Great truck for that

I have the same TV and my 5er weights about the same as yours. I have no problems in the mountains, going or up coming down. Use the Tow Haul and let the truck do it's job. Trust me your in good hands with that TV.

Enjoy the Road

Like the others have said, you have enuff power.
Dont get me wrong, I love MORE POWER as much or more than the next guy. But the problem is once you start with one little thing you effect ten others and you have to keep modifying and messing with stuff. Which is fine if thats your thing. But if seeing the country and getting your rig around hassle free is your thing, thats different.
To truly get use of the extra 10 to 90 horsepower most chips will give you, at minimum you will need to change your exhuast system, air delivery system, and fuel filter/delivery set up. Pyro and boost gauges are a MUST so you dont melt the thing down. So all of that is well over $1,000.00 (not including the chip or box) then you got to install it all or have it done. Then your trans is running hot or your beating the hell out of the clutch and things start slipping and your modding the trams..........
It will never end!

My 02 GMC had an Edge chip on it when I bought the truck. I never used it, can't see what it said anyway. I started a 4k mile trip in May, got 4 miles from home and the Duramax started missing. Disconnected the chip, it straightened right out. I say, forget the chip, not worth the money, warranty void or the hassle.

Granted, I have opened up the intake and exhaust, but no mods other than that. I am running with at least as heavy a 5er, and day before yesterday ran North over the Coal Bank/Molas/Red Mountain pass group. No problems with heating, and no problems with lack of power. I never had to pull over to let a group by me. Of course it was on a Wed., so not alot of traffic. Don't worry about it, and have a wonderful time.

You are pulling our leg, aren't you? I haven't driven an 08 Chevy, but I would think you have to be careful not to burn rubber from a dead stop as is. Have a great trip
