I am new to trailering and have a 21 foot travel trailer. I was wondering if it is standard practice and safe to tow the trailer with the fridge running on propane?
Any tips/advice on this would be most helpful.
Thanks

Local regulations may prohibit the propane from being turned on when travelling.

It is with us. We've had our fridge on for 5 1/2 years except when the 5'er's in for maintenance.

When I turn ours on, it stays on until we return home. Have yet to see any actual documented reports of fires except "hear-say" from nay sayers. Thats something like info "from the third toilet seat on the right" as old USMC saying goes. I use diesel, so I refuel with it on. Fridge is on right, fuel hose on left about 25 feet away. You will now be hearing from the "choir". JMHO

I had my refridge on auto last year and when I unplugged to move to another campground it switched from electric to gas with out me knowing.
when I got to the other campground, a 300 mile trip, things in the fridge were still cold so now if I have things in there I turn it on propane.
I do not turn it off at filling stations if it blows it blows.

It is safe. Don't worry about it. The only restrictions I know of are in the Baltimore Harbor tunnels.
As noted you should turn if off when refueling.

Just a clarification - turn off the FRIDGE when refueling, not the propane. It's the spark caused by the igniter that can be the issue not the actual propane.
For us, we run with it on. I would pop into the trailer and turn off the fridge when we refueled. The we noticed that the fridge vent was about 10'+ away from where we were refueling and it was out in the open and not under the enclosure - so now we just leave it.
Spent my entire childhood camping and we always ran with the fridge going.
They are built and meant to run with them on while towing.

We plug our in to 110V the night before we leave and cool it down....when we unplug it it automatically switches to propane and we NEVER turn it off until we park the TT at the storage facility. We do not turn it off when fuelling because the filler tube for the TV is on the opposite side of the TT from the refer. IT is also a good 20 feet away, if it was on the same side, I prolly would turn it off for fuelling.
