Nope one of the worse kept parks in the system in MHO, from restrooms to dirty beaches it did not match normal Texas State Park expectations

Heaven -- get there early then if you have a good 4X4 head up on some of the trails -- some of the most beautiful Wild areas in the Country.

What in the world are you talking about? No beach at Lake City!
To the OP - A beautiful drive from Creede (Little TX LOL) over to Lake City.

Found this from an earlier post;

Sometimes the road gets a little tight
This was a 25+ mile ride 4x4 taking almost 5 hours and I could have spent a week.
This is what you are describing but the Ridgeway State Park might still be the best bet for 4-5 days on one end of your trip or the other. Great lake and things for the little ones to do.

Just a few pic’s to get your appetite going – if you want to see more and better take the time to look thru Stan Parkers photo journals;

He has some of the best you will find in the area –
Enjoy the trip and hope you have fun in planning,

Have friends there who are year-rounders.....you can't find much prettier country and the drive from Creede is not a problem.....friendly town with LOTS of Texas license plates....IMHO, of course

Lake City and the driving around there is spectacular. American Basin should be coming into all the flowers. See our website www.laurenbarbara.com under Wanderings CO and Lake City. (I don't post images on the Forum)
