We are going to the northern Adirondacks in a few weeks and planning our what to do's. I am a bit of an adrenaline junkie so I want to try Bobsledding.
I know theres a few different companys in the area that have Bobsledding Rides....does anyone here have 1st hand experience with any of them?
Is it worth it? because it certainly looks like it.
Thanks for any advice....

Hello John & Christine.....
Hopefully you can look at some of the info on our website to learn more about the Lake Placid area. Click here and then scroll down to September 21. Please ignore some of the faults with our website as I'm in the process of fixing some problems.
We loved the Lake Placid area !!!!

They offer bobsled rides at the Olympic village. It was pricey, so we only watched. Sleds are wheelded, come down the cement portion, not on ice. Experienced driver and brakeman, with "passengers" in the middle (2, maybe 3...). Looked like fun! Lake Placid had a LOT of very interesting things to see/watch if you are a winter-sports person - we watched ski jumping competition by high-schoolers, figure skating competitions, freestyle ski training, etc. ST

I've done the run in winter on ice at the Mount VanHovenberg Olympic site and it was worth the price. I'm sure you can watch the summer version on wheels & decide for yourself.
Enjoy the area's beauty & attractions.
Good luck.

I went last year at the Olympic site. First off I did it first, before watching the other sleds come down the track. $80 bucks, ride, picture, medal, shirt, certificate. They drive you up to the start in an SUV. You go into a shed and get your helmet. It is I think a 4 or 5 man sled. For our ride, there was the pilot up front, me, my son's girlfriend, and the brake man. We clocked the fastest time of the day....44...seconds. What a ride. Your head flips from side to side and at times it seems like your head may hit the side turn walls. I bite my lip, that was the only injury! They make you sign your life away with legal papers and warnings before they take you up the mountain. Just do it!!! The last ride of the day is around 4pm, so plan according.
See you on the road!
