I have decided on purchasing a new raptor 300mp. I can get the camper for about 4000 less without a generator. I have 2 portable honda 2000 generators with the paralell cable.Only problem is when traveling, it would be nice to fire up an onboard unit. I think the 2 portables would power everthing on the raptor. Price on the 300mp is 34,800 without the gen set.Does sound like a good price? That is not including sales tax. Also does anyone know if the 300 mp comes with a tv in the garage area. What would be other must have options? Thanks!!!

If I already had generators that would run everything, I would spend the money on a toy I didn't have. If I didn't already have the situation covered, the answer would be harder. It is great to have that on board unit. But, having the portables allows you to use them for purposes that I find them valuable for and you might not. I have used them at tail gate parties, back pastures, home power outages, etc. You may have no desire for these uses. If money is not an important consideration, you go with both the portables at home and the on board in the TH..

In my opinion and experience... I would get the onboard gen. Much less hassel. Much nicer to use. Designed to run your TH and all its components. No stowing and getting out the two other gens everytime you want to use them. Fuel onboard for the onboard gen. All around just much easier and nicer. The little in immediate savings will be eaten up over a long lifetime of use and enjoyment. Did I mention the onboard is much easier and nicer?

Well if its new i would get the genny with it..that way its covered under a warranty especially if something electrical goes bad down the road due to an aftermarket install.Thats what I would do.The 2000's are nice for charging and running small stuff all day if you dont wanna fire the big genny up.I know lots of people that use the little ones to charge batteries, run tv etc when they boondock.

If you are getting an Onan 5000 or above they are nice a quiet, the 4000s are not so quiet IMHO.
It's a tough call, being able to just press a button and have power is a huge plus. You don't need to carry gas cans or do any setup. Your resale value will also be better with the onboard generator.
That said, there are times I wish I had a 1000 watt honda or yamaha that was lean on gas and could power enough for the TV and other small appliances.
Still happy I've had the built in generators, as is my wife.

I would buy the one with the gen installed. That means you don't have to take up valuable space with the portable one and you can sell the ones you have if you wanted to. Makes it nice to just hit a switch and open the slides with our built in generator. I like that if its raining and we loose power at the campgroung, I can just kick it on.

I would do the installed unit. I have both and love hitting the button and having the fuel, electric start, and everything running while heading down the road. My Honda unit normally stays home but is used constantly for building projects and power outages during winter. If you can afford it, go for it. You'll be glad you did.

My friend with a Raptor has both the built in Onan and carries a Honda 2000 and uses both, depending. He likes the economy of the Honda when he doesn't need the capacity of the Onan.

I love my onboard genset. It is very easy to use, very quite and uses about 8 gallons for 10 hours of everything on(AC/TV/Radio/Lights/fans).
Also, don't you have to at least option the gen ready package to get the onboard fuel tank?

I just bought a TH with the ONAN 4000. Previously, I had a TT and toted around a HONDA eu3000is. That worked out fine, but, it's sure nice not to have to lift the genny into the truck when I go camping! Eventhough the HONDA 2000's are light, the extra money for the gen in the TH was well worth it to me.
