The LT tires are light truck tires. Most f150's come with P or passenger tires. The light truck tires are alot stiffer and ride better under a load. The ones I put on my truck are BFG all terrain tires. With over 62k miles on them they are almost ready to replace. When I picked my trailer up the dealer did not adjust the weight distribution hitch up correctly. It towed OK, but once I spent an afternoon setting it up according to the instructions it towed a lot better.

I pull a 25' Layton with my F150. 4.6 liter engine. The trailer is 5200 lbs. empty. Works well for the short trips we take on the flat ground here in TX. Would not attempt any large hills and will not win any speed races. Hope to one day soon upgrade to a 250 to enable us to go further.

I pull a 30 ft Airstream, 2001 Excella with my F-150. The Ford has a 5.4L Triton gasoline engine with a 3.55 (yes) limited slip rear axle. The Lariat series comes with a trailer towing package so it has the heavy duty alternator, transmission cooler and larger radiator. It also has the 6250 GVWR package.
The trailer weighs in at 7160 (dry) and I use a Reese dual anti sway cam type hitch. This past summer we pulled the rig from Michigan to California and up the coast to Oregon before turning around. We traveled the Sierra Nevadas, the Bitteroots and the Rockies. Although at times I would have preferred more power we took our time and enjoyed life at its finest.

I pull a Cougar 5th wheel with mine. The Cougar weighs about 6400 empty and the F150 pulls it very well. Towing MPG is about 10 on the interstates at 60-65 mph.

Note the signature. I find wind resistance more of a problem too. Our trailer i believe is 96 inches wide. I think that is a little wider than most. I have cooked one tranny already at 30000 miles but i have done a few things to hopefully make it last a little longer. We havent ventured into any hills yet but i wouldnt think im gonna win any speed races. Mileage is not very good either. Its what i have and i definatley would go to any larger of a trailer unless its an ultra light that does'nt exceed 4400 GVWR. Our hawk is 4400# GVW.

The overdrive won't stay locked in when pulling most any grades. It is set up to down shift at certin pressures. If you are driving on roads with many hills close together it will overheat if you don't push the button and lock it out of overdrive. If the hills aren't very close together you can keep it in the overdrive and let it go in and out as needed. The book recomends to pull with it locked out which may be good for you to do on some roads. It isn't good to "lug" the engine going up hill. A manual trans won't putt as much as an Auto trans. Look in the book and compare the weights between an Auto and Manual trans.
