Hi everyone new to the forum and am not yet RVing I have a 2003 Ford F250 SD Crew Cab,with a 7.3 PSD, Automatic tranny 3.73 gear ratio and were looking at a 2003 Cardinal 28WB LE. I would like some feedback from someone pulling with this combo or something comparable. If you see a problem here please let me know, any feedback other than Ford bashing is welcome. We are scheduled to have a Husky 16k sliding hitch installed next Thursday (6/6/03)so please let me know what you think! Thanks in advance

Well, I have the same truck, just a 2002 and we are towing a Sunnybrook 28RKFS. It really tows like a dream. We are close to 10,000lbs loaded down and the truck pulls it without a problem. I am not familiar with the weight figures on the Cardinal, but if you'd like to post them, we can give some better feedback.

Basically, you will probably be fine with the gross weight of the trailer for towing, but you will be right at, or slightly over on pin weight. I would recommend having your truck weighed with you and normal passengers, gear, hitch, etc. You want the truck loaded as if you were going camping - ready to tow. That really is the most accurate way to tell where you are at with weight for the truck. Obviously, after getting the trailer, you can have the whole rig weighed and while it is good info to have, it's a bit late to do anything at that point.

There is A TON of info on this and other forums. Some feel that there are configurations of the F-250 that essentialy give it the same "capacity" as an F-350. Figure out the pin wieght of the trailer, see what you have left to work with on the truck when loaded and make the decision that will give you peace of mind.

How was that for a "politically correct, trying to avoid getting flamed" type of answer? HAHA! Seriously though, there are thousands that tow that type of trailer with your truck. Some would say your pushing it - Others will say "Join the crowd!". Good luck either way and let us know what you decide.

Were pulling the 312BH-LX with our 250 V-10 4:30LS with no problems. Our unloaded trailer weight is about #1000 lbs more than yours, but our pin weight is about #50 lbs less than yours. The 250 srw is only lacking in GVW rating, if it were a 350 srw it would still be borderline. (there the same truck except the sticker for GVW)If your only doing in the summer 9-12 weekends a year like us. I think you will be fine. If your traveling more, like cross country, then a dually would be nice. Get I set of airbags to level the load and stay below 65mpg, that truck will do well. Good luck.

i have an f250 sc swb 7.3 and tow a cardinal 29wb.
i have not had a problem with this setup.
the only thing i could wish for would be 4.10 gears, but that is not avail. on f250s.
you should do just fine, jim

The trailer "supposedly" weighs 8,840 pounds empty with a tounge weight of 2,090 and my truck weighs 8800 pounds which comes to 17640 pounds and 20,000 is my limit so the way I see it I have room for 2360 pounds of cargo which to me seems like I will have no problem staying under but like I said at the beginning I'm new to RVing and maybe I will reach the max weight faster than I think. I still have some figuring to do but was hoping somebody had already done the math and could tell me everything is great...go for it and enjoy! Which I believe is what Jim and Kathy just did!!

I pull almost the exact rig. We have been all over the mid-west and up and down the rocky mountians and the serrias with no problems. I am sure you will be fine. Have fun!

Are you sure your truck weighs 8800 lbs.? My F-350 super cab only weighed 7340 lbs. with aluminum tool box and about 100 lbs. tools and a full tank (about 30 gals.) of fuel. Anyway I pulled my Cardinal 28WB to Alaska once upon a time and had absolutely no trouble. I have towed it about 15,000 miles and no breakdowns at all. I get 10 mpg average while towing. I don't think you will have any trouble at all.

8800# is the truck's GVWR. GVW is likely between 7000-7500#.
