We live in SC and are surrounded by very good campgrounds(Army Corp. Engr. Parks)...no pool, but good outdoor camping with large sites and well wooded. We can stay on the lake for $16/night.
In June we went to Pigon Forge, Tenn. and stayed for $26/night and had cable/play ground/pool/large sites. Overall, I was well pleased.
I just make reservations to Pirate Land at the beach. It is (with tax) $55/night. I know we will have a great time, but $55/night.
We stayed at Fort Wilderness for $50/night in Jan and it is much more of a CG than anything I see at the beach.

My question...what is the range of prices where you stay? All of the major SC beach CGs just went to $50/night. I guess I have too much of my dad in myself, but that is high.

We just returned from 4 weeks from Michigan to Black Hills, Devil's Tower, Yellowstone and back the Northern route. Costs for 2 adults and a 7 & 10 yr. old went from $11. to $42. We weren't spending any time in the CGs so didn't care about the CG amenities. We only used a pool 2 times in a month. We hit the cold spell of June and only had 2 nights without furnace. AC was never used. At the one KOA in Billings, MT. they started at $41 and went up. There was a billboard that had a hotel for only $4.00 more by the same exit.

PE

When the fee is in the 50.00 a night range!!

That is when I boondock, after all that is why we buy these high priced fully self contained units??

It is such a shame we have to endure these outragous fee's, but we all understand the old supply and demand rule.

If people would just pull out and leave !when they are told these rates the rates would come down.

A person can get a clean room, with ac, a pool and all for less then that, and closs to all the dealeohs.

PE Mabry ,THAT IS HIGH !Like your dad I would "NOT" pay that price anywhere . Just figure thats $1500.00 for 30 days , a lot of us camp more than that every season .In my mind $50.00 a night is not camping. Just do your homework and go with what you can afford. The twins and your wife will enjoy the time you have together ,thats, "PRICELESS" THANK YOU JFB

We have camped all over the US and Canada and the highest we have ever paid was $38 in Connecticut and we aould never go there again. There is bound to be a nice place for less than that in the area. Since I am old enough to be your Grand Dad, "Son, find another place."

Piratelands rate of $50 for oceanfront/premium is high, but not any more than any other oceanfront campground this time of the year. If you check their rates, from Sept-Oct its only $33 and Mar-May is $35,its the summer/tourist season, their money making time of year, they do ask and get it,still cheaper than staying in an oceanfront motel and you have your own bed and can cook your meals. If we were just going to stay "overnight" with the late check in and early check out times we would not stay at such a high priced campground-wouldn't be worth it.

Just came back from a trip to Napa and San Francisco. Stayed at Bothe - Napa State Park paid $22 each night and it was clean with great showers 25 cents per three minutes. Then stayed a night at the Napa Expo Fairgrounds $21 with the best free Fireworks show (right over our heads) I have seen in a long time on July 4th. We then went to San Francisco RV Resort paid $50 for a Ocean View spot. The state park and the Expo Fairground (electric only) beat the "Resort" hands down in good times and not because they were cheaper.

**We used the showers in the state park because everyone was getting ready for a wedding at the same time.

You have state park cg's at myrtle beach that cost $25.00 for full hook ups. If you can get in at Hunnington Beach. I don't think it cost as much at Myrtle Beach State Park. They do not have the amities of Pirate Land.

no sewer at MB state park. Dump station. It is a great place to stay if not raining. Much better than Ocean Lakes and that type.

Just a question, where are the most expensive sites in North America. My vote would be the hot tub sites at Camperland On the Bay in San Diego if they stillhave them.
