More than 700 motorhomes have passed through Fleetwood RV's new paint and finishing facility in Decatur, Indiana, the company announced. Fleetwood began building the state-of-the-art facility to accommodate the growing demand for detailed exterior graphics. The process takes about a day and a half for a Class A motorhome to go through the paint facility.
Construction on the 120,000-square-foot building began last September. The facility, which went to full production in June 2002, operates nine paint booths, three convection ovens, and two sanding and buffing booths. In addition, paint supplier Sherwin-Williams operates an on-site store.
"We believe that Fleetwood's paint facility represents the most innovative and technologically advanced paint and finishing facility within the motorhome industry today," said Frank Winegar, vice president of operations for Fleetwood RV.
Paint-facility tours are available to customers.
