With four private RV parks inside the city limits and four state parks within easy striking distance, Morro Bay is a camper's bounty. Bay Pines, Cypress Morro Bay RV & Mobile Home Park, Morro Dunes Travel Trailer Park and Morro Strand RV Park all feature full hookups and offer easy access to the town's amenities, both natural and manmade. Montana de Oro State Park, 10 miles south of town, offers primitive camping in a rustic setting for motorhomes up to 24 feet. RVers should secure a reservation for one of the 50 sites before arriving from April through September.
Morro Bay State Park offers water and electric sites (reservations imperative), and Morro Strand Beach offers many more campsites (105), but no hookups or hot showers, and regulations limit vehicles to 24 feet.
For RVers willing to day-trip to Morro Bay, San Simeon State Beach, about 30 minutes north off Highway 1, provides 134 sites that accommodate rigs up to 31 feet. Freedom of choice has never been so appealing.
